Eyejot supports the ability to import multiple users into the address book from popular web-based email platforms like AOL, Yahoo! and GMail. You can also import from Outlook or Outlook Express if you're using Internet Explorer on a PC. There's also a way to format names and email addresses in Microsoft Excel and import those.
Importing from AOL, Yahoo! and Google Mail (GMail)
The import process starts when you press the import button on the friends screen (which you can reach
by clicking on the big "Friends" button). You'll see your normal screen with any friends you've
added to your address book.

After clicking the import button you'll be taken to a different screen where
two steps are presented.

The first step (with a button) allows you to activate a widget provided by
Plaxo. If you press this button a pop-up window will appear with the
import widget. It will display a number of choices for where to pull your contacts from.
Directly supported services include AOL, Yahoo! and Google's Gmail service.

If your contact list is stored on another server, selected other. Optionally, you can select Outlook or Outlook Express if your contacts are stored in these programs. The wizard will guide you through the process of exporting from those programs and preparing entries suitable for Eyejot.
If you've selected one of the directly supported email platforms, such as Google's Gmail,
you'll be taken to a login screen where you'll be asked to provide your user name and
password for that particular service. Neither Eyejot not Plaxo retain this information
and it's used only to login and read your address book from that service.

If the Plaxo wizard is able to login successfully you'll be presented with a list of all
your address book entries from that service. Select the ones you want to import
into Eyejot by marking one or more checkboxes. When you're done, press the Next
button.

At this point the Plaxo wizard will format the entries you selected in a manner
that's compatible with Eyejot.

The results will automatically be copied into the second field on the original import screen. Here you'll be asked to verify the entries that were inserted before completing your import task by pressing the Import into Eyejot button.
If you want to import the selected entries directly into a pre-existing group, be sure to mark the checkbox labeled import into the group followed by an appropriate selection from the group-name drop-down list.
Importing from Excel
While Eyejot can't read Excel files directly, that doesn't mean you can't take advantage
of data you already have in Excel or want to format using Excel. We've prepared a
help
topic which explains how to utilize Excel to organize and prepare multiple columns of
information and then use that to insert pre-formated CSV data into the Eyejot import wizard.
You can access that topic here.
Importing from Apple's Address Book (OS X)
If you're an Apple Mac OS X user and want to grab the contents of your address book and import
them into Eyejot we suggest a freeware utility program named
Address Book to CSV Exporter
by Antonio Lore' which is available on the Apple download site
here.
After you have produced a CSV file we recommend using Excel or an Open Source equivalent to
grab the email column and follow some of the instructions described in previous sections on this page.
